Revive Old, Weathered Furniture

Updated: Aug 19, 2020

Here in sunny Queensland we love our outdoor lifestyle. However the elements can sometimes be harsh, wearing down some of our beloved outdoor furniture. While we’re in the cooler months and out of the wet season, it’s the perfect time to give some of those old pieces a spruce up. With our premium, weather-durable oils by Feast Watson, you can revive those old, grey flaking pieces of furniture and achieve a smooth, rich, timber look once again.

1. Start by giving your piece of furniture a sanding

Depending on how weathered your furniture is, determines how much of a sand it needs. If it is quite weathered, you will need to sand it right back, otherwise a light sand will do.

2. Stain, varnish or oil?

It depends what look you are going for. An oil will bring out the natural wood grain and retain the character of the furniture, whereas a varnish will give it a shiny look. You can choose different coloured stains to deepen or lighten the colour of the wood while also retaining its natural grain.

Pro Tips:

  • Keep your furniture covered during periods of non-use to protect against natural elements.

  • Wear some protective gear such as a mask and gloves for safety precaution

  • Make sure you work in a well-ventilated area
