Dramatic Colour Schemes

Greys are the new Beige Inspiration

Design Diaries with Karen

As nice as it is to play it safe and keep it neutral when selecting colours schemes, it's equally as nice to go for total impact with a dramatic colour scheme to compliment an otherwise neutral scheme. Accent walls in bold, moody or bright tones add an individual look to an interior space. Some great colours to utilise are charcoals, dark navy, denham blue, dark Irish greens, blush pink tones, aqua and yellows just to name a few.

Combine your accent wall with feature furniture pieces and soft furnishings for a signature look, try opposing colours from the colour wheel that will make both the accent wall and furnishing pieces stand out.

I love the impact generated with the contrasting look of the following : bright yellow furnishings against a deep aqua wall colour. Alternatively, you could also combine muted gold accents against a slate grey wall or metallic finishes against a feature wall in a deep sombre colour palette. These all can add great depth and instant interest to any interior.

Don’t forget the ceilings, depending on the interior space and ceiling heights, a simple addition of colour to the ceilings doubles the drama – remember, we are only a call away, or pop into the store for expert advice on getting the selections right.
